SCOPE

Midland Conscious Sedation provides short acting conscious sedation for dental surgical patients using modern equipment and adhering to relevant national guidance. Patient safety is our primary concern.

WORKING WITH DENTAL PRACTICES

Our Sedationists are Consultant Anaesthetists with GMC Specialist Registration, Professional Indemnity covering work within dental practices and relevant immunisations.

When working within a dental practice, although supplied by Midland Conscious Sedation, the Sedationist is effectively working as part of the dental practice team. They will abide by the practice’s policies and procedures where applicable unless there is an overriding patient safety reason not to do so.

Before a commitment to provide Sedation services a visit to the Practice will be undertaken to assess suitability with regards to facilities and layout of the Practice.

The practice should ensure that a visiting Sedationist is provided with a minimum of:

• Orientation to the practice
• Fire policy
• Infection control policy
• Safeguarding policy
• Incident reporting.
